AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

 Dear Lady Doc,
Welcome to November!

It is that time of the year again when people would usually celebrate life and express gratitude but this year has been unusual so that, it would be understandable if many do not feel a reason to be happy. Too much has really happened in one year! Worse still, times are yet uncertain and nobody knows what to expect next.

Thankfully, one thing is certain; gratitude is a tool that we all have access to every day, and our ability to respond to life with gratitude despite the events that 2020 has presented can drive the course of the rest of the year. In fact, did you know that gratitude is scientifically proven to affect everything, from your relationships to your stress level, to the quality of sleep you can have? Not only does it feel good to have a grateful outlook on life, but research has also proven that gratitude, amongst others: increases your mental strength but also plays a major role in overcoming trauma. improves self-esteem. improves psychological and physical health.

It is easy to feel grateful when things are going great but it takes intentionality to feel grateful when things have not played out as expected or planned. But we have the power of choice! We can choose gratitude and thanksgiving regardless of the current state of the world right now. Gratitude for life and basic things like a roof over one’s head is a good place to start but more important is being able to make it a lifestyle. Not only for things, we have that others don’t but being grateful in spite of what others have that we don’t. Finally, gratitude doesn’t cost any money and it certainly doesn’t take much time, but the benefits are enormous. We can and we will maintain an attitude of gratitude for the rest of 2020.

I wish you a happy thanksgiving month and I implore you to deliberately keep a daily gratitude journal especially if everything around you seems gloom and doom.

At the end of the month, take stock and it will surprise you how much you really have cause to be grateful for.

Happy new month ladies.

Note. If you can successfully keep the daily gratitude journal for 30 days, send me an email and I will send you a gift. Let’s do this.

Have a great month ahead!

Sincerely,
Dr Jummy!
