Episode 5

It had been a long day in the emergency room, she had seen people die, their relatives thrown into confusion and grief, people coming in real emergency situations and getting relieved. She was a typical example of one.
Well, she was soon moved into the main ward reserved for those who had survived and had been stabilised from the ER.

However, it wasn’t less of a gruesome sight as she saw more people lying helplessly, with tubes sticking out of one orifice or the other, for breathing or feeding.
There were those with terrible burns, and one could still perceive their burnt hair and skin like that of a roasted animal. There were those whose legs or arms were hanging from heights or wrapped in casts or simply absent.
Even babies barely old enough to understand their mother’s face were lying there.

She was convinced that her case was nothing compared to all this, at least, all she had was a neck collar. No fractures, injuries or distortions to her body. One that her Femi did not appreciate enough to wait for.

And as her mind drifted to the incident of that morning, flashing the pictures over abd again, she couldn’t help but wonder what Femi would be doing now. Was he feeling sorry about what he had done and how he had been caught?
Did he go to her house inorder to apologise and see if she was fine? Or had he just carried on like nothing happened?

As for her best friend, she didn’t want to believe there was nothing there or it was just a coincidence. She was aware that women were careful with their emotions and only gave them to who they wanted or were sure about. Her friend definitely had her eyes on Femi for a while now. It wasn’t just an accident that she found herself in his bed.
‘Hmmm’, she sighed as she accepted her fate. She wasn’t going to bother crying over spilt milk, one that wasn’t hers to begin with.

And while all those thoughts clouded her mind, there came the dashing physiotherapist.

‘On a scale of 1-10, Grade the pain you feel on your neck’, he said to her.
‘Zero’, she had thought to herself… how could she be in any pain with this cutie staring down at her?
‘It’s more like 2’, she said to him.

‘Okay then,’ he replied. ‘We’ll leave the collar on till tomorrow and if you still feel the same way or better, we’ll take it off ‘.
She thanked him as he walked away.

And she journeyed into her world of daydreaming with the handsome physiotherapist in a beautiful garden, sipping some red wine…
