It is common practice to examine one’s life and make readjustments and resolutions at the beginning of a new year or on one’s birthday.
However, this shouldn’t be left to just those periods but should occur as frequently as possible.

A driver will not wait till only the start of a new year to service his car or do some repairs, neither will a house owner wait to fix broken things only at the beginning of a new year.
So why should anyone apply that to his/her life which is more important than a car or a house?

Here are a few tips to “CLEAN HOUSE”

  • Frequent medical checkups
I know this is not a common practice among most people.
People don’t naturally go to the hospital until they have to(either they are really sick or there’s an obvious swelling or injury which makes them uncomfortable).
But early detection is essential to treating most illnesses and one’s mind can be put at ease when one knows he/she is fine.
  • Journalling
Writing down things to improve on, goals to achieve etc can help because even if you forget, your journal will always be there to remind you. Setting timelines to your goals is also important.

Also, writing down your achievements can help to encourage you, showing that there are successes and souring you to do more. There’s this satisfaction that comes with striking an item off your “to do list” when it’s done.

  • Self Examination
This is like having a little chat with oneself and keeping it real. Being completely honest with yourself, scolding yourself for failures and giving yourself big hugs for successes.
If you think you need to speak with someone after this, it’s also good.
  • Others include self care like pedicure, manicure, getting a haircut and a shave and even getting new pieces for one’s wardrobe.
  • Actually cleaning and reorganizing one’s house or living space, changing the position of items in the house just to give a new look.

Let’s make these regular practices and experience positive changes in our lives.
