Ever heard of the phrase, “time will tell?”
Of course you have.
It’s like a whisperer of all the hidden truths; the good, the bad and the worst.
A little girl dreams of putting on an immaculate white coat, with a nice stethoscope dangling from her neck as she strolls down the walkway of a hospital. She doesn’t voice it out because she’s not sure if that’s what she really wants and if that’s what is best for her. She has heard that a lot comes with growing up; responsibilities, sacrifices and all. She wants a balanced life without having one aspect suffer.
But time tells. When she gets to that bridge, she expresses her desire and takes the bull by the horn, facing life head-on and giving it her best shot rather than remain unhappy for the rest of her life. And this time, she’s very sure.
Timi’s parents can’t wait to call him barrister and have him defend them against all the people who have held them bound and exploited them over the years. But, whenever Timi looks into his future, all he can see is the nicest pair of soccer boots on his feet as he dribbles his way to the goal post.
In time, he’s able to explain to his parents that his passion is soccer. Again, time whispered.
Bottled-up feelings, emotions, announcements, declarations, all eventually get whispered with time.
Most times, when decisions seem difficult and challenging to make, just give it time. With time comes clarity, courage and faith.
Time reveals truths and takes fear away. It speaks even when we are too afraid to. It shows us our true selves, our true reflection. It mirrors us to us.
Time always tells.
